One of the 16 towns in the outermost ring of the Outlands that holds the most prominent gate to an Outer Plane of the Great Ring. Most of these settlements serve as some of the most significant trading posts and gateways to their associated planes, though some are secluded villages of little note on the multiversal stage. Gate-towns are by their nature a transitory feature of the Outlands, as their proximity to their associated planes tends to cause them to take on increasingly many features of that plane, until they eventually tip over and slide fully onto that plane; when this occurs, a new town appears in its place, already populated by Outlander petitioners but ready for resettlement by mortals as well.
