While for the most part fundamentals are identical statistically, they can be divided into four categories, each of which varies slightly. These can generally be thought of as gaseous, liquid, solid, and energetic fundamentals. In addition, each fundamental has the subtype of the elements composing it, and the appropriate home plane for its element. There is no Positive or Negative fundamental.

A fundamental can always see perfectly in its native element. When exposed to their opposing element in any significant quantities, pure or not, fundamentals take one damage per round until removed from that element. Fundamental slam attacks could as the energy type most associated with their native element:

DC Result
10 You can identify this creature as a fundamental, a basic elemental being native to the Inner Planes. This result identifies all outsider and elemental traits.
15 Fundamentals are harmless beings that are little more than the moths or fireflies of the Inner Planes.
20 These creatures are at the center of a philosophical debate over the nature of life as opposed to animated objects.
