Changes to transmutation spells fall along three categories: lesser transformations and least corruptions, lesser corruptions, and major and inalterable corruptions. For spells not listed, use the descriptions to determine what category it falls into. Note that these categories are not based necessarily on the power level of the spell, but rather more on the subtlety of the transmutation. (These alterations, as all magical alterations by plane, do not apply to divine spells directly cast, only those used from a magical item or scroll.)
Lesser Transformations and Least Corruptions
Spells that cause minor or non-obvious changes in properties without altering form - changes which either cannot be directly observed, or which could be accomplished without the use of magic. Minor distortion; these gain slight changes in manifestation without mechanical changes, and are never permanent. Examples: flame arrow conjuring several fiery bats, fly sprouting wings from the neck or ankles.

Lesser Corruptions
Spells that cause massive and obvious changes in properties without altering form - changes which can be seen blatantly and which could not be caused without magic. Spells which obviously manipulate objects or substances from a distance fall under this category. Major distortion; these gain potentially harmful and always unintended side effects. Examples: pyrotechnics creatinge a splash of lava, control weather summoning about a sudden storm of acid rain around the caster.

Major and Inalterable Corruptions
Spells that alter physical form. Living recipients change towards a more corrupted form (humans becoming tieflings, elves becoming drow, etc.), while nonliving recipients become in some way fouled. Spells can potentially have lethal and/or permanent side effects. Examples: statue petrifying the caster, gaseous form becoming permanent.
